- Though the College of Humanities and Social Sciences was established in 1996, its teaching and research work could be dated back to the early period of the 20th century.
- At present the college has a faculty of over sixty, including 25 professors and associate professors, 20 lecturers and 10 assistant lecturers. It has six departments, i.e. the history of science and technology, sociology, tourism management, literature and arts, law, and political sciences; two institutions: Institution for Chinese Agricultural Civilization and Digitalization Institution; and four research centers: Center for Social Investigation, Center for Tourism Development, Center for the Arts and Literature, and Center for Law Consultation. In addition, there’s an editorial board for the quarterly journal ,《Agricultural History of China》, which is an organ of the Agricultural History Society of China and edited by Institution for Chinese Agricultural Civilization.
- For undergraduates and post graduates teaching, this college has five four-year undergraduate specialties(sociology, law, labor and social security, tourism management, management for public affairs), three MA programs(the history of science and technology, philosophy of science, and administrative management) and a Ph D program in history of science and technology. Up to now, the college has about one thousand and three hundred students studying on the campus.
- This college has been paying great attention to international academic exchanges and cooperation and has established cooperative relationship with universities and institutions from the U.S. A., the United Kingdom, Netherlands, Japan, and South Korea. The college would like to cooperate with related universities and institutions both at home and abroad in exchanging visiting scholars, scholarly research and collaborative education.
